Parliament’s Standing Committee on Finance (SCoF) has issued an invitation (17 October 2013) to stakeholders and interested parties to submit written submissions and any indication to make oral presentation for the public hearings in regard to the Customs Control and Customs Duty Bills. The public hearings are set to take place on 30 October 2013. The draft Bills set out a new legal and regulatory framework for Customs controls over the movement of people goods and conveyance in the Republic of South Africa. The proposed new laws will in effect replace the existing Customs and Excise Act, no.91 of 1964 once in force.
