The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has just released a 2nd draft of the Customs Control Bill for public comment. The new law will replace the current Customs & Excise Act which is now over 50 years old. The draft bill is radical in its approach mainly due to the organisation’s alignment to the Revise Kyoto Convention and other key WCO standards. There will be an additional opportunity to provide comment on both draft Bills after 16 May 2011 as part of the Parliamentary process. The draft text can be found on the SARS website: http://www.sars.gov.za/home.asp?pid=294.
Do I have to obtain a licence to sell factory shop clothing! If so how do I go about?
Hi Wyron, are you merely retailing/selling stuff or importing?
Hi i am selling clothing that I buy from the factory shops in cape town which got small rejects on, some of them are name brand clothing such as addidas, nike, truworths etc, my business is the process of being register as TBR trading, can you tell me what is all my requierments to start this business! ! Because I see how customs take some of the peoples/street vendors can you please advise me
Hi Wyron, from a customs perspective you do not require to be registered given its local goods which you are acquiring. Depending upon the extent to which you envisage trading, I would suggest contacting your local town council in the event they require you to obtain a trading license (by laws).
